America Voted

Posted by burtf51 on November 5, 2008

There’s an old saying “Be careful what you wish for, because it may just come true”. Well the majority of voters think Obama is going to be the answer to all their problems and concerns. This is going to be very interesting. I’ve got a feeling there is going to be a lot of I told you so’s coming from the other side before all is said and done.

Batton down the hatches America and your pocketbooks. Promises cost money and I don’t think 5% of the taxpayers will be enough to Foot The Bill Of Promises. 95% of taxpayers will see no increase in their taxes! We’ll see soon enough.

  1. It’s great that history has been made but without Congress Obama will have a tough time delivering. Maybe Congress will get their acts together as well?

It is an historical election where a black man was put into office with a large white voting population behind him. I don’t think anyone can deny the progress we have made as a country. But there are major issues of racial justice, ecological sustainability, economic democracy, civil liberties, and social progress that hang in the balance. It’s up to us, all of us who put Obama in power and dream of a better world to organize to make sure these things come to fruition. There are right wing forces, utterly ignorant and full of tragic nonsense, who intend to make sure that our vision doesn’t prevail. But we have to be strong and realize that, as the election of Barack Obama illustrates, injustices that seem engraved stone are temporary delusions.

  3. Like your blog and your attitude…probably because I agree with you so much! I had to respond to this blog because I felt so much the same on this day. Yes, we put a black man in office and for all of the black children and adults who wanted that to happen and who will now look at their tomorrow differently, I am thankful. It is just depressing that we put the WRONG black man in office. If it had been Michael Steele or Colin Powell, or just about anyone else who is experienced and has a more moderate or conservative mind, I would be less afraid and much more confident for our country’s future.

“I told you so” will it be if republicans continue to undermine Obamas efforts. So for shure it is not his fault if he can not reach the goals he has set, the goals the US needs. Healthcare for everyone for example. What a shame, how can a country allow people to live without even health insurance. inallconscience.wordpress.com
